Session 2 focused on why representations are foundational in both mathematics and in mathematics teaching. It also identified key ideas about fractions and types of connections between representations.

Session 3 builds on and extends the work on representing fractions that was started in Session 2. It also develops a fundamental mathematical idea: the definition of a fraction
