Fractions - Session 4: Using the number line

Part 3: Locating numbers on the number line

video of math teacher

Overview

This part of the session looks closely at what is involved describing the location of numbers on the number line and begins to develop explicit knowledge of how to construct and use this key representation.

Using representations in teaching requires being able to accurately construct representations, to see how different representations are applicable in particular situations, and to use specialized language associated with the representation.
