Overview

Students need opportunities to communicate about their mathematical reasoning and to hear ways in which their peers think about mathematics. Therefore, in addition to being able to narrate representations themselves, teachers also need to support students’ efforts to use and explain representations.

This part focuses on ways in which teachers can scaffold students’ narrations.
