Part 1: Preview
Overview
The previous session focused on giving and evaluating explanations, noticing features of good explanations, and seeing explaining as a core component of expectations for student learning. Teaching practices that support students’ engagement in reasoning and working to understand students’ reasoning were also discussed.
Session 4 builds on the work started in Session 3 with the Three-Coin Problem and the 21¢ Problem as well as classroom teaching focused on using different versions of the Pool Border Problem. This session focuses on:
- Scaling mathematics problems
- Engaging in a video workshop
