Part 3: Articulating ways of supporting students’ reasoning and explanation

Overview

This part expands work on ways in which teachers can follow up on students’ explanations by encouraging and supporting constructive critique of an explanation. Particular attention is paid to ways in which the teacher can support the student who shared the explanation in producing an improved explanation and how to nurture an environment in which the entire class is engaged in reasoning.
