Driver’s Education: Classroom Instruction

REVISED Course Information

We were recently informed by the Dept. of Transportation that Driver’s Education classes must now run for a minimum of six weeks. As a result our class will now meet 2 days a week, from 8:30 to 11:00 am. on the following days:

June: 6, 7, 13, 14  21, 22, 27, 28
July: 5, 6, 11, 12

Emphasizing the techniques of defensive driving, this course equips students with the skills necessary to be a safe and sensible driver. By creating a “Skills Project Book,” students take a proactive role in learning the rules of the road, thereby aiding their development as young drivers.

This course covers only the thirty hours of classroom instruction required by state law. Students must also complete six hours of behind-the-wheel instruction separately to meet the state teen driving requirements. The instructor will discuss how to schedule behind-the-wheel hours.

We recommend that students be at least 15-1/2 years old by the start of the class. Students do not need their driving permit to enroll in this course.

On Campus Guidelines
