Geometric-measurement - Session 6: Area Learning Trajectory – Instructional tasks and teaching strategies

Part 2: Anecdotal notes workshop

Overview

This part provides another opportunity to use the learning from practice protocol to engage in an anecdotal notes workshop with a small group of colleagues. As was discussed in Session 3, the goal of the workshop is to use anecdotal notes to support discussion with colleagues about the mathematics that students demonstrate and how students think about mathematics. A related goal is to discuss differences in students’ thinking. After the workshop, there will be an opportunity to discuss in whole group how it went and how the process could continue to be improved.
