DUNGEONS, DRAGONS, AND TABLE TOP RPGS
This week we learned the basics of roll playing games and focused on the aspects of communication, creativity, and collaboration. The students ran through a practice scenario where they defeated a mimic, tripped a trapped box, and freed a pixie. After that they started working on building the characters that they will be playing in their upcoming campaigns. Three students volunteered to be Game Masters and started working on story lines for their players while the other students picked races, classes, and worked on developing backstories for who they will be in their adventures.

MINECRAFT: A VIRTUAL LEARNING ADVENTURE
This week we introduced students to the world of Minecraft. Many students have never played Minecraft on a computer, and others are completely new to the game. We started the week by getting acquainted with the program—exploring in both creative and survival mode. For our first project, students worked in their own worlds to practice moving, building, and exploring in the Minecraft environment. Next, they worked cooperatively in groups to build various structures in building challenges.
