CULINARY KIDS: COOKING ADVENTURE
This week, the culinary students crafted some delectable Italian meals, featuring mini pizzas, spaghetti, and cheesy garlic bread. Our culinary journey also took us on a field trip to the Kapiolani Community College Culinary Department. Chef Alan Tsuchiyama led us on a tour of the kitchen and garden. He discussed kitchen health and safety protocols, and the students had the chance to pound ʻulu and sample some pa’i’ai, which was delightful!

FULL STEAM AHEAD
This week in Full STEAM Ahead, students explored the thrilling world of roller coasters. They collaborated in groups to design and build their own roller coasters using recycled materials, testing their creations and enjoying the designs of their peers. We can’t wait for you to experience these at our open house next week!
On Wednesday, we had a fantastic field trip to the Bishop Museum. Students learned about marine debris and its impact on turtles, birds, and marine life. They also observed the Sun, Moon, and stars in the Planetarium, and explored the new exhibit, Expedition Dinosaur: Into the Deep, which connects prehistoric marine ecosystems to our local aquatic habitats.
We capped off the week by creating air-powered fireworks for the 4th of July. Students tested their designs to see which could fly the furthest and engaged in problem-solving to enhance their creations.

What a fun week in Full STEAM Ahead! We are looking forward to our final week of the summer program. Have a wonderful weekend!
