HNS: EXPLORERS
Our final week is all about Hawai’i’s reef and shore! On Monday, we took a field trip to the Waikiki Aquarium and explored the different animals we can find in our reefs and oceans. On Tuesday, the students learned about different native and invasive species and practiced Gyotaku! On Wednesday, we took a trip to the Makapu’u Tidepools and explored all the different animals we could find. On Thursday, the students were so excited to show everything that they have learned and created over the past 5 weeks! On Friday, it was our last day and we enjoyed it with water play and watching movies! I had an amazing time learning with all of my explorers, and I will forever cherish the fun memories we made this summer! Thank you for all of the support and patience! I will miss everyone so much.

HNS: RESEARCHERS
We had fantastic field trips to the Waikiki Aquarium, where students marveled at the incredible marine life and learned about Hawaii’s diverse ocean ecosystem. We also had an adventurous outing to the Makapu’u Tide Pools, exploring the unique intertidal zone and discovering fascinating creatures in their natural habitat. From creative arts to STEM workshops, the energy and enthusiasm have been fantastic. We’ve seen some incredible projects come to life.  Have a great summer.

LITTLE JOURNALISTS
We continued to work on week 5 of our newsletter. This week, students practiced writing in past tense so their news articles make sense. We also got our newsroom (classroom) ready for our parents, and the students made slides to share with their families on what they’re learned this summer.  We are so proud of what our journalists have accomplished in just five weeks!

Students learned de-escalation skills and an effective decision making process. They facilitated their last group activities with the HNS Researchers. They worked very hard preparing their Open House presentation, which was a great success with the parents! Thank you to the parents that were able to come and participate.
