Unique DTE video for facilitating professional learning

Facilitators of DTE modules use three types of video to support teacher learning.

Facilitation supports

Each session features video clips of expert mathematics teacher educators working in professional development contexts. Facilitators may choose to show these videos to frame professional development tasks, share insights from research, and explain complex mathematical concepts.

Virtual colleagues

There are also videos that strategically capture participant comments, questions, and demonstrations from professional development sessions facilitated by the expert teacher educator. These can be used to provide examples for consideration or provoke a discussion about a topic not yet raised by participants on site. Facilitators can use these as voices from "virtual colleagues" as needed in their own professional development context.

Classroom video

Finally, there are videos from classrooms and of individual students that can be used by facilitators to engage teachers in thinking about mathematics, teaching practices, and student thinking.
