Screencast 5: Public space recording of the module

This facilitator overview video (below) will support you in learning more about the main mathematical ideas developed in the later module sessions. These ideas include:

  • How the CCAs support participants’ learning about the use of public recording space.
  • Using an image of the public recording space to support participants’ efforts to plan and learn from their own use of the public recording space.
Preparing for engagement Watch Video B of Session 7, part 4 (found in the “Supplements” section of the Resources pullout)  In this video, a teacher shares and discusses his public space images with a colleague, and the facilitator interacts with the teachers.

Before watching the overview video (below), please think about what the images and discussion in the discussion example video (above) make available for learning. For instance, what do you notice about:

  • The mathematics being studied
  • The nature of student thinking about the mathematics
  • Connections among the different images

In addition, consider the work of facilitating learning grounded in the images that participants bring to sessions. Think about the questions you may have for the participant in this example and also the kinds of things you might talk about with your participants as they share their images.

How this overview supports the facilitator of the module This facilitator overview is designed to provide opportunities for you to:
  • Understand the purpose, routines, and ways of thinking involved in studying public recording space.
  • Understand the way in which work on public recording space unfolds over time in the module.
  • Support participants in seeing the study of public recording space as something that is beneficial and manageable as a way to continue learning even after the module has been completed.

PLEASE NOTE: THESE OVERVIEW VIDEOS WERE DEVELOPED FROM INTERACTIONS BETWEEN MODULE DESIGNERS AND FACILITATORS PILOTING THE MODULES WITH TEACHERS.
