HNS Researchers Face the Microplastics Problem [Week 3]

This week’s adventure was to the zoo.  The Researchers had the discussion about the ways zoos are important other than just seeing different animals that don’t live in Hawai’i.  Also, the Researchers have been challenged with creating devices that can help remove microplastics from our beaches and oceans. Microplastics are any piece of plastic smaller than 5 mm long.  We learned that there is a lot of pollution and plastic in our ocean around Hawai’i. Also we learned that microplastics have become a huge problem and can even be found in the deepest parts of our oceans.  We wrapped up the week with an exciting kickball game vs. the Little Journalists class. The Researchers are excited for their many adventures next week.
