Overview of session planners

Session planners allow facilitators to quickly and easily access the materials specific to each session. This section explains the components of a planner.

Facilitator Guide

Always start by reading through the Facilitator Guide which provides detailed information on the purposes, materials, and activities that make up the session. For this reason, it is the first resource shown on every session planner. Facilitator Guides also feature commentary that share options, summaries of videos, and other information needed for using the materials with teachers.

Session parts

Want to view a specific part in the session? The session planner allows facilitators to click on a Part # to open a specific session part in the DTE player. The player allows facilitators to easily access video, slides, and handouts, as well as quickly alternate among these options.

Module content overview: scope of this session

Each session planner provides a succinct statement of the goals that orient the session and are organized in terms of the four core elements.

Session resources

A variety of session-specific resources are provided including printable PowerPoint slides, handouts, and Classroom Connection Activities (CCAs). CCAs are a form of “professional homework” that guides teachers in using PD content in their classrooms and bringing back insights and classroom artifacts for use in the next PD session to ground collaborative work with their colleagues. Additionally there are opportunities to use professional readings within the CCAs. The planners provide a reading list that can be used, found in the section, “Overview materials for the module.”

Overview materials for the module

At the end of each planner, module overview materials are provided to support facilitators' efforts to plan each session and make connections to the foci, goals, and activities that span the module.
