ANIMALS IN ART
For this last week, our artists put all of our knowledge together to build our shoebox animal habitats. This final project was a mixed media project where students used various modes of art to build our art piece, including creating animals out of air-dry clay.

CREATIVE PROGRAMMING WITH SCRATCH
This week, we worked super hard to finish and bug fix our projects for the Open House on Thursday! Every student did their best to put together around two projects to show with their group or by themselves. Thursday ended up being an absolute blast!

Science Lab: Fossil Files IconFOSSIL FILES 🦖
All of your children worked so hard to ‘curate’ their museum for their families! I was happy to be able to speak directly to many of you at Open House. To those I didn’t, it was so nice seeing you and showing you the class.

They all worked so hard to build their exhibit posters and pull class resources to place in their exhibit. They were all so proud of their hard work! I will be sending home goodie bags and any of their work home tomorrow.

I hope they continue to ask questions and explore more dinosaur knowledge through their journals and “dinosaur eggs.”

Passport to Art: A Journey Around the World IconPASSPORT TO ART
As we wrapped up our final week together, students explored artistic traditions inspired by the Americas through hands-on projects from Peru and Mexico. Students practiced weaving by creating colorful woven textiles inspired by Peruvian traditions, and created Huichol-inspired yarn paintings while learning how patterns and color can tell stories. Throughout the week, students also completed their country posters and presentations in preparation for sharing everything they learned during our “Art Around the World Museum” Open House. Thank you for sharing your children with us this summer. It has been a pleasure watching their creativity, curiosity, and confidence grow as they explored art from around the world!

Sleuth Academy for Junior Detectives IconSLEUTH ACADEMY FOR JR. DETECTIVES
Our week 5 theme was Blood Evidence.
Our detectives learned about basic properties of blood and its role as forensic evidence. They also learned about blood types and analyzed simulated blood samples to distinguish types as well as played a blood transfusion game online. Then, they learned to distinguish between different types of bloodstain patterns and analyze their implications as evidence. Finally, they created their own crime scene dioramas to challenge their friends.

UNDERSEA ECOLOGY
This week your ecologists wrapped up by reviewing content and finishing any projects. On Monday, we welcomed guest speaker, Mar Leatherman, to learn about weather and pollution! On Tuesday, we finished learning about decomposers by reviewing sea cucumbers and whale falls. We have had a fantastic time learning about the wonders of the sea!
