To Find The Way
When the Hōkūle‘a and Hikianalia embarked on the Mālama Honua worldwide voyage in May 2014, they embarked on a journey to find and grow inspiring practices to protect our Earth for future generations. They also began a new chapter in the story of Polynesian voyaging. The 47,000-mile open ocean journey will visit 85 ports and 26 countries, including twelve of UNESCO’s Marine World Heritage sites. Hōkūle‘a and Hikianalia will serve as floating classrooms, sharing Hawai‘i’s culture and knowledge with the world and educating the communities they visit, as well as those of us back home in Hawai‘I, about the importance of protecting our Earth through local solutions and strong relationships.
To honor and celebrate this latest effort, CRDG is offering To Find the Way for a discounted price of $10. Co-published with the University of Hawai‘i Press, this beautifully illustrated book puts you onboard a Polynesian voyaging canoe as it leaves Tahiti on a voyage of settlement, heading for islands far to the north where no one in living memory has sailed before. This story of courage, survival, coming of age, and of learning to trust the ancient knowledge of a seafaring people brings a key moment in Hawai‘i’s history alive.
