THE EDUCATION LABORATORY PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL RECEIVES HONORABLE MENTION AS A 2011 CHARTER SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE

The Education Laboratory Public Charter School Receives Honorable Mention as a 2011 Charter School Excellence

The Education Laboratory Public Charter School, also known as the University Laboratory School, serves as site to research, test, and develop educational curriculum for students in grades K–12. Initially a part of the Curriculum Research and Development Group in the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa’s College of Education, it applied for and received charter school status in 2001. As a charter school, it is unique because it is the only charter school that has a dual mission of providing the best education to its students and serving as a research and development site for educational curriculum and school design.

Each year, a charter school is selected for the Charter School of Excellence Award. The award recognizes a charter school that has provided exemplary education to its students and demonstrates outstanding leadership not only within the charter school system but the entire education system. One school receives the award and two schools receive honorable mention. The Education Laboratory Public Charter School received an honorable mention in 2011.
